How our guides work

How Tech Problem Solved structures troubleshooting guides so you can fix issues safely and in the right order.

Good troubleshooting is ordered. Jumping straight to a factory reset wastes time and risks data. Our guides are built so the least destructive checks come first.

The standard flow

  1. Confirm the symptom — so you know you opened the right guide.
  2. Gather what you need — charger, password, router access, admin rights.
  3. Soft fixes — cables, restarts, forgetting a Wi‑Fi network, re-pairing Bluetooth.
  4. Software maintenance — updates, storage space, battery charts, permissions.
  5. Targeted resets — network settings or a single feature, not the whole device.
  6. Last resort — backup, then erase or reset, testing clean before restoring everything.

Device-specific wording

An iPhone charging guide talks about Optimized Battery Charging and MFi cables. A Samsung guide mentions Protect battery. A Fire Stick buffering guide prioritises Wi‑Fi band and TV USB power. Same problem family, different operating system language.

Related guides

Sidebars prefer other problems on the same model first, then the same problem on sister devices. Use them when the first guide narrows the fault (for example charging works but the phone still runs hot).
